Abbotsford Masters Curling Club hosted a successful Philp/Donaldson playdowns in Abbotsford this weekend. In spite of the flu being rampant everywhere with some players unable to attend, some unable to continue play and some who probably shouldn’t have been there, the caliber of play was excellent.
Our own Team Sinclair (Milt Sinclair, Charlie Lindsay, Paul Pike and David Primrose) won the Donaldson playdowns. They defeated Team Finnbogason from Langley in the final game. Team Sinclair will have their banner raised to our rafters and have their names engraved on the Albert Oliver Memorial Shield. Hooray! For team rosters and draw results, see our Graham Donaldson webpage.
Team Snooks from Chilliwack Fred Snooks, Rob Wiens, Bill Icton, Glen Street, and Deane Crutch) won the Philps championship game.
Our own Team Anderson finished second. While Jim was unable to play due to the flu, BJ Gagnon, Doug Carvey, Gary Gogal and Fred Tolsma represented AMCC very well. Well done guys!
For team rosters and draw results, see our Guy Philps webpage.
Team Sinclair and Team Snooks will represent Zone 2 in the Combined playdowns in Langley/Cloverdale in mid March.
Thank you to our volunteers
A sincere thanks to Archie for being the draw master under some trying circumstances.
Also thanks to the women who helped in the kitchen with breakfast and lunches (Bonnie, Mary Ann, Diane), to members of the executive who took pictures, collected money, fetched the muffins and helped in the bar. Thanks to Len Exley who became an honorary citizen of Delta for filling in on short notice.
A special thanks also to Kent and Della who put in many long hours to feed us all and provide top notch ice for the games. In all, a job well done!!
Happy birthday wishes to Kent.
