Abby Junior Interclub Play

“The inaugural year of our Abby Junior Interclub play has been a huge success. For our second game, we hosted the Chilliwack Juniors on January 11th, with a total of 40 kids participating in the game. All had a great time and after the games they went upstairs to enjoy a pizza lunch which is always a big hit. With 3 games remaining for the juniors our next game at our club is on February 1st at 9AM, the final wind-up bonspiel is at Chilliwack on March 1st . The future is exciting for our junior program at the club. A big thank you to ACC for hosting and all the coaches and parents who help make this a success.”

2025 Murray GM Men’s Open Bonspiel is a wrap !!!

The 2025 Murray GM Men’s Open Bonspiel with 20 men’s teams from Abbotsford, Chilliwack, Langley, Cloverdale, Calgary and Quesnel wrapped up this past Sunday afternoon. The Championship game was won by Skip Dale Hockley and his rink from Chilliwack defeating skip Darren Frycz from Langley. Both teams were undefeated at 5-0 going into the finals but Team Hockley proved to strong for the rink from Langley giving team Frycz there 4th bonspiel runner up finish of the season. The team from Chilliwack was an inspiring family affair with Dad’s Dale Hockley and Rick Jones both playing with their sons Kevin Jones and Robert Hockley. Congratulations guys !!! Earlier in the day Team Hockley defeated Team Harris from Coverdale on a last stone draw to the edge of the 4 foot while Team Frycz needed and extra end to upset Ryan Mclean and his rink from Abbotsford in the other semi-final. The B division final was won by the 2024 championship team skipped by Wayne Moore and his rink from Langley defeating skip Dayne Gagnon from Abbotsford. Team Moore went 5-1 for the weekend with his only loss to the rink from Abbotsford skipped by Don Frycz. The C playoff final was won by skip Darren Schellekens and his rink from Cloverdale defeating yet another Abbotsford team skipped by Rick Lang. What can I say; but the Abbotsford teams were wonderful hosts again this year with our out of town guests taking home all of the hardware. Better luck next year boys !!!

A special thank you to Archie the draw master for the long days and keeping the draw boards up to date and organized. As you all know these events are only possible with the help of the volunteers and our wonderful bar staff Della, Linda and Brenda. The kitchen volunteers of Allyson, Lesley and a team of amazing cooks. The ice crew Dale, Taylynn and Nic and 50/50 volunteers Karen, Leslie, Edith and Rick.

Next is the Mixed “Superbowl” Bonspiel February 7-9.
