On behalf of all AMCC members, we would like to thank you for joining us at our annual bonspiel. If you have any questions or we can help in any way, please contact one of the bonspiel committee members.

This annual event is hosted by the Abbotsford Masters Curling Club and features 12 teams from surrounding curling clubs and 12 teams from Abbotsford. All ream members are daytime curlers over 55 years of age and of varying abilities.

There will be a short Remembrance Day ceremony on Friday the 11th.

All teams will compete in the Blackwood SureShot competition for the best raise to the button.

Teams play five games during the tournament. The event culminates with a luncheon and distribution of cash prizes on Sunday at noon. The winner will have their name engraved on the plaque that has been awarded yearly since 1956.

The trophy we award at the Bonspiel is the Tony Durvin Memorial Trophy. The first plaque on the award is from 1992 so this is the 30th year, kind of a milestone!

Spectators are Welcome.

Results

There were 24 teams entered in the Annual Blackwood Masters Bonspiel held this year on November 11, 12 and 13. All teams played five games and competition, while friendly, was fierce.

Team Nixon from Langley topped the field defeating team Freeman from Mission in the final. Team Nixon won $280 and got their name engraved on the Tony Gurvin Shield awarded for the 30th year. 3 other teams from Chilliwack and 3 Abbotsford teams rounded out the top eight teams.

The Blackwood SureShot, was won by Abbotsford’s Team Primrose when Jerry Wallace bumped up a rock closer to the button than his opponent from Mission’s Team Freeman. Team Primrose took home the $100 prize and this year’s bragging rights.

This year’s event included Team Wischoff, a invited ladies team from Abbotsford who more than held their own finishing second among the Abby teams who did not finish in the top eight teams.

All the teams enjoyed the great luncheon on Sunday afternoon. Several outside teams are preregistered for next year’s event scheduled for November 10, 11 and 12.
